Class-work in all schools to remain suspended on April-30 as precautionary measure

Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNO): In view of incessant rains, authorities on Monday decided to keep all schools upto 12th standard closed on April-30 as precautionary measure. The divisional administration Kashmir said there was no need to panic and the decision was taken as a precautionary measure. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bhuduri said, “After field assessment and as a precautionary measure, we have decided to keep schools closed here." “We are monitoring the situation and the field officers are continuously updating us,” he said. In the meanwhile, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) also issued instructions and ordered suspension of class work in schools of Kashmir valley on April-30. “In view of the inclement weather conditions and incessant rains, it is ordered that the class work in all educational institutions including government as well as recognized private institutions upto Higher Secondary level of Kashmir division shall remain suspended on April-30-2024 as a precautionary measure,” DSEK said. In the meantime, University of Kashmir also informed all the concerned candidates that all the examinations which are scheduled to be held on April-30-2024 are postponed. The Assistant Controller of Examinations (Conduct) at Ku said that it will announce new examination dates soon. Pertinently, Kashmir valley from the past couple of days has witnessed heavy rains in plains while some upper reaches received fresh snowfall—leading to rise in the water levels of rivers and streams. On Monday, several concerned authorities in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir ordered suspension of class-work in view of incessant rains. The class-work on Monday was suspended in many districts of Jammu and Kashmir including frontier district Kupwara, Ramban, Bandipora, Gurez, Doda, Baramulla, Ganderbal and some schools in south Kashmir—(KNO)
